All Time Low - Future Hearts (Record Review)

After getting into them not too long ago, I anticipated their new record quite a lot. And ATL did not disappoint at all.

Satellite is a great intro for the whole thing, reminding me of Green Day for some reason, and while I'm not too fond of Kicking & Screaming, Something's Gotta Give brings you that typical feeling again whenever you plug their music in. As soon as its chorus kicks in, all you wanna do I burst outside and dance across a field as you sing along to it all. Built up from their past records, they had created a huge scene around them and set certain levels for their new album, but, let me tell you, they delivered up to those standard, and more. The release for it was also perfectly set seeing as it puts you into the kinda mood to drive across a countryside to nowhere with the windows down, lie in a hammock as you watch the sun set or just sit around a campfire with your friends. A typical pop-punk record, but with that special ingredient of All Time Low.

With contributions from Mark Hoppus and Joel Madden on it as well, you can't help but get a little nostalgic as you get thrown back to the beginning of this century with all its Blink and Good Charlotte madness.

The whole spectrum is getting served with beautiful ballads (The Edge of Tonight, Tidal Waves), singalongs (Missing You), those typical pop-punk anthems (Kids In The Dark, Don't You Go), tracks to walk sassily through a huge crowd (Dancing With A Wolf) and those that make you want to tear down every wall nearby (Old Scars / Future Hearts). Speaking of which, OS/FH is a massive outro track. The whole thing is perfectly assembled considering the playlist.

Get your inner pop-punk going, jump into a car with your friends and blast this thing as you take a trip to Neverland.

On a personal note, some of those lyrics fit so incredibly well to my current situation and state in life that this record already has a special place in my heart.

There's a reason this record made it to #1 of the UK charts, trust me.

Favorite song(s): Dancing With A Wolf, Missing You, OS/FH

Overall: 9/10

All Time Low are just about to start their touring cycle for this record in the USA. Check the website for more info and a date near you: http://alltimelow.com/
